Anorak magazine

A magazine for kids that caught my eye. I love the illustrations and hand rendered typography. Next time a certain neice of mine has a birthday I think I know what I’ll be getting her! More excitingly they are planning to launch a version aimed at adults to be called Anorak!

Kingdom of Bhutan stamps

The small land-locked kingdom of Bhutan has done some great postage stamps!

Burt Todd, an American entrepreneur, developed a series of interesting and innovative stamps for this small country. Some were on silk or steel, some were scented, some were in 3-D, and some were talking! Stamps which were cut discs of grooved rubber actually played the national anthem or the history of the country when turned on a record player.

Office fridges

All office fridges have their quirks, smells and politics. In the last office I worked at we joked about the ‘dog’s milk’ that would turn up mysteriously. Nobody knew where it came from. Actually it was UHT, but not many of us could stand it in our tea or coffee, but when there is no fresh milk and the thought of walking to the shop is too much, we all drank the ‘dogs milk’! Now I have the opposite, my new job has a well stocked fridge at all times.

Lowest spring tide

We awere treated to a fabulous supermoon last weekend which also bough us the lowest spring tide for ages. I walked the along the beach from the Brighton centre to Hove bare foot… It was cold, but felt nice! Lots of people seem to be gathered around the west pier like a pilgramage to a sacred ruin. I went to see this at the weekend, and actually I wanted to see another movie, but we were late! We missed the first 10 minutes, but it was fantastic. Thanks to walking from Camberwell to Brixton rather than getting on a bus I discovered this great band and their inspiring story.
