Lowest spring tide

We awere treated to a fabulous supermoon last weekend which also bough us the lowest spring tide for ages. I walked the along the beach from the Brighton centre to Hove bare foot… It was cold, but felt nice! Lots of people seem to be gathered around the west pier like a pilgramage to a sacred ruin. Some may have seen this guy dancing around like a chicken wearing suspenders and smudged lipstick! or perhaps you have stumbled across the video above of him riding a t tray down a snowy Hanover street. I meet the prankster / comedian / artist the other day. What a ball of energy! We worked on a poster together shoehorning so many ideas and words on to a page it hurt my head!

Ping pong, beer and live bands!

My flatmate tipped me off on this night a friend of hers just started at the Brunswick in Hove. What a smashing combination! The ping pong was electric and the bands were well decent too. Check out Yokoko and Shock defeat. Both bands impressed me, well worth the £4 entrance fee. To top the night off we had the bride from a wedding party upstairs and other well dressed guests playing round the table while a fantastic DJ played mash ups from all ends of the musical spectrum.

Eccentric fella, Pétanque and a rainbow!

A lovely evening playing Pétanque on the seafront and we met this colourful character who had found some free stuff next to a bin. He was very chatty, and I ended buying the palm tree off him for £1. He found the sherrif’s badge on his hat, the goblet (somehow filled with some booze since crossing the street a guitar and the palm. Apparently he need to catch a bus back to London and was £2 short. I gave him back the palm and told him to try selling it again to make his next £1 he needed!

This was shortly followed by seeing a rainbow over the old pier… I love balmy summer nights in Brighton, especially when you meet strange and wonderful people like Palm tree man!

Seagulls vs Cheesecake

I have mentioned my seagull friends before, well this week I had some disappointing cheesecacke to get rid of. It was a Tesco’s finest one with packaging and descriptive adjectives that would make your mouthwater, but a bit of an anti climax to actually eat. Eventually the ‘eat by date’ passed, and one of my hungry seagull visitors was hanging about being very brave (they usually fly off when I get too near!) so I gave hime the last quater. They looked quite mean whilst eating it, and it took under 10 seconds to go!

Guerilla gardening

A concept that Brighton is bound to embrace with open arms. The idea is that the community take control of unused land to grown plants and vegetables, generally making the area more pleasant. Tesco have other ideas it seems they want to turn the old Essogarage into another store. Good luck to the awesome people who set this up in their fight to stay. Brighton Bike week

Soundwaves festival
